68-Year-Old Woman Runs Herself Over

On Tuesday, June 9, 2015, a 68-year-old grandmother died after accidentally running herself over. This motor vehicle accident occurred at around 3:20 pm, when the woman arrived at her home in her 2005 Mitsubishi SUV, with her 6-year-old grandchild in the backseat. According to the Detroit Free Press, she left the transmission in reserve as she exited the vehicle and the car backed over her, pulling her under the wheels.

There were neighbors who witnessed the car accident, who immediately ran over the try and help and called 911. Justin Stokes, one of the witnesses, was on the phone at the time, when he saw a car lying in the middle of the street and an elderly woman lying in her front yard. "It was a bad scene," Stokes said. The name of the grandmother has not been released, but she was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital by Warren Fire EMS, where she died of head injuries.
